Types and Tomes began as my personal creative outlet after I left the world of biotech. The name comes from two of my favorite past times: building mechanical keyboards (types) and getting lost in books (tomes). What started as a simple idea soon grew into a brand that welcomes creativity, storytelling, and craft.
My challenge was designing a brand that could unite seemingly separate worlds - reading, stationery, and mechanical keyboards. A cohesive identity incorporating all three (and possibly more, as one does not only have a handful of hobbies) seemed impossible. The goal was to create something warm, personal, and timeless, yet modern enough to live comfortably in the digital space. The concept found it's center in the typewriter - a bridge between analog and digital, words and mechanics. I reimagined it as a single keycap, essentially merging my two hobbies. The identity uses a monospace typeface to echo traditional typewriter fonts while maintaining a clean, contemporary feel. A mute
The website extends the same balance of old and new. A simple landing page allowing the background as the hero with an overlay that feels like a bulletin board listing events. Every detail is designed to feel calm, curious, and personal - like stepping into someone's workspace.
